Irfan Gehlen

Irfan is a seasoned professional with decades of experience in water supply and treatment for drinking water applications.  His hands-on experience spans from preliminary to detailed designs of water treatment plants, reservoirs, and pump stations, as well as pilot studies and feasibility investigations that have resulted in the construction of full-scale water treatment plants.

Irfan’s dedication to excellence in engineering is exemplified by his work on the award-winning Metlakatla water treatment plant, which earned Canada’s highest honour for consulting engineering excellence – the Schreyer Award.  He has also been involved in numerous projects for Indigenous communities throughout BC.

As the Water Treatment Technical Practice Reviewer for the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC), Irfan is critical in ensuring adequate public health protection, worker safety, and environmental protection.  His expertise in water treatment design and technical practice details makes him an invaluable asset to the industry and a trusted advisor to his peers.
