Experience

Scott Cowan is a Project Manager, Senior Fluvial Geomorphologist, and the leader of KWL’s Ontario operations.  With over 15 years of experience, he specializes in rehabilitating natural environments and assessing riverine flooding and erosion hazards.  He has led the assessment and design of numerous river corridors across Canada and the United States.  His expertise includes nature-based channel designs, bioengineered bank stabilizations, geomorphological assessments, sediment transport analysis, aquatic habitat compensation, and erosion threshold analysis.

As a recognized leader in his field, Scott actively advances the science and application of geomorphology.  He serves on the Geomorphology Subcommittee for the Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (PGO) and frequently shares his insights at key industry events, including the Source to Stream Conference (formerly TRIECA), the Natural Channel Systems Conference, and the PEMAC Asset Management Conference.

Scott is a certified Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo) and a member of both the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario and Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
