Pressing ‘Play’ on Local Government Leadership on Climate Action
While the world hit “pause” on a lot of things because of the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change continues. Now, more than ever, communities are drawing on lessons from the pandemic to set a path for climate action and resilience.
Earlier this year, Robin Hawker, KWL’s Climate Adaptation Planning Lead, spoke on a panel held by Royal Roads University about how local governments across Canada are leading the way by implementing on-the-ground climate solutions. Other panelists included Mark Carney, former Governor of the Bank of Canada and UN Special Envoy on Climate Change and Finance, and Harshan Radhakrishnan, Manager of Climate Change and Sustainability Initiatives at Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
Our Climate Adaptation Team is passionate about our work with communities to implement proactive climate solutions, from designing lower-carbon District Energy Systems, building resilient critical infrastructure, and incorporating nature-based solutions that benefit people and ecosystems. Our integrated team of planners, engineers, and biologists work with our clients through assessment, planning, design, construction, and ongoing lifecycle management.
