Albion Pump Station and Reservoir
Project Highlights
Kerr Wood Leidal (KWL) was retained by a developer to create a water servicing plan for the upper Albion neighbourhood in Maple Ridge. The plan supported the servicing of the initial development of 141 single-family residential lots. The planning and modelling study developed water supply servicing options for the larger Albion Neighbourhood (approximately 170 ha).
The preferred servicing strategy involved dividing the area into two pressure zones: a gravity supplied pressure zone and a pumped pressure zone, the “Albion Zone”. The Albion Zone is serviced by a booster pump station pumping to a reservoir complex, which provides balancing and fire storage. The pump station and reservoir were sized to allow for future development in the service area.
KWL also completed the detailed design of the booster pump station and reservoir. The pump station was initially fitted with two 20-HP pumps with capacity to add two 40-HP pumps (added in 2008). The booster pumps are controlled based on a water level signal from the reservoir, and the station is monitored by the District of Maple Ridge’s SCADA system.
