Project Highlights

Kerr Wood Leidal was retained by Neptune Bulk Terminals Co. Ltd. (NBT) to help design water recycling systems for air scrubbers on NBT’s potash conveyors.  The primary goal was to reduce freshwater consumption in the air scrubbing systems.

KWL retrofit the existing scrubber systems to use recycled water instead of fresh water, thus reducing the fresh water demand.  Engineers also designed new wet scrubber systems and collection hoods for conveyor transfer locations and the ship loader assembly.

Engineering services included:

  • Design of recycled water systems
  • Construction oversight
  • Automation and process control
  • Dust sampling, and
  • Effluent water quality monitoring.

Through this project, KWL was able to help NBT to significantly reduce freshwater demands for the air scrubbing systems.
